No one wants to go back into the closet in their golden years.
However, the culture at some long-term care facilities makes older adults feel that they have to hide their gender identity or sexual orientation when they age and move into a home with other seniors. A session on Wednesday aims to begin a conversation about how to keep that closet door open.
“Seniors who have been out or who have been activists have that history kind of erased,” says anya gwynne, education co-ordinator at PARN — Peterborough’s AIDS Resource Network. Read more
